A company called 4iThumbs have created a plastic overlay for the virtual keyboard on the iPhone. What the overlay does is ads ridges above each key so that the user can type and actually feel something under their thumbs other than the smooth touchscreen.
The overlay was created because of the problems a number of people have working with a virtual keyboard. By adding the ridges they hope it brings the regular keyboard one step closer to a physical one.
The virtual keyboard overlay can be left on the phone as it doesn’t mess with multitouch functions. The only problem is that if you want to type both portrait and landscape then you’ll need a couple of the overlays to cater for each virtual keyboard layout.
The portrait version costs $14.95 while the landscape version costs $16.95 with a pack containing both for $19.95.
