Iomega is launching a new range of external storage devices called the eGo series. The iomega eGo storage devices are compatible with USB 3.0 allowing for files to be quickly transferred to and from the storage units.
The previous eGo series looked almost identical and the main difference is the new USB 3.0 interface vs the USB 2.0 connection of the older series.
The iomega eGo drives feature Drop Guard that allows them to be dropped from up to 1.3 meters. Also for data protection the drives use Iomega QuickProtect for encryption and for virus detection, McAfee VirusScan is built in.
Backup software is included using the EMC Retrospect Express software. Also, a cloud based backup is also provided by MozyHome Online.
Price wise, the difference between the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 models is just $20 for each capacity in the series. Available now at Amazon.
