Now that the iPhone and iPod Touch have been opened up a little more, companies are starting to show support for the platform. Various names such as EA and Sega have committed to developing for the device. The next in the list is iD software who are famous for Doom and Quake. Now that iD are on board I expect to see some amazing things happen with the iPhone and Touch.
“The iTunes distribution channel is really a more important aspect than a lot of people understand,” Carmack noted. “The ability to distribute larger applications than the over-the-air limits and effectively market your title with more than a dozen character deck name, combined with the reasonable income split make this look like a very interesting market.”
