Update: Multi-Touch is supported in some apps. Although we just wrote about all the good stuff about the Nexus One and the new 3D Framework that incidentally isn't backwards compatible due to complexity, we also hear that the browser, maps and all other programs do not make use of multi-touch. Google don't say much about the Nexus One not supporting multi-touch and in a response to a question in the press event, they have just said "we'll consider it".
It seems odd that Google Android's flag ship superphone doesn't support something like multi-touch when variants that hit Europe and other places could well have it similar to the DROID. The reasons are perhaps legal in a similar way to how Google Maps Navigation cannot be legally used outside of the US.
The good news with Android though is that all it will take is a few days for someone create a ROM or software modification that allows you to install the old browser and upload a new browser just like the DROID had a few days ago. Hopefully when Google say they will consider it, they actually mean they are working on ways to allow it to function in the US.
