Check out New York City on Google Earth. Google [GOOG] along with many people helping out over at YourWorldin3D have managed to get all of NYC on to Google Earth in 3D right down to street level. The video below shows a demonstration of what can be achieved.
The software used is part of Sketchup that allows you to use pictures captured from above buildings in several angles and create 3D models of the buildings.
It isn’t clear how long it has taken to get the whole of NYC complete, but the results are quite impressive.
