Edward Kim, the developer of the Car Locator application on Google Android based phones has mentioned that his application is earning around $435/day in sales with peaks of up to $772 on various days.
It has been believed for a while that the iPhone from Apple [AAPL] was where all the money was, but it seems that there's a few small gold mines to be found amongst Android users.
The numbers show that Kim's application has been downloaded 70,000 times for the free version and currently 6,590 times for the paid version. Originally the paid version of the app cost $1.99, but he decided to double that to $3.99 and didn't see sales drop at all.
Kim admits that Android piracy may be an increasing problem, but overall is hugely positive about Google's smartphone platform and its store.
"I still think that Android is only a fraction of what it will eventually become. Each release of a new Android handset gets me excited, as it means a wider reach for the Marketplace."
It's certainly interesting to see someone having a bit of success with the the Android Market from Google [GOOG]. $13k wouldn't be too much for a business with a number of staff to pay, but as Kim is in this on his own it makes for quite a healthy wage.
