Google Android 2.2 Froyo Coming Today

Gizmodo made a very brief announcement today regarding Google Android 2.2 Froyo saying that it has been open sourced and is available today.

Many people are now wondering when it will hit their device. For those with devices such as the HTC EVO 4G, it could be a few months away while HTC make the necessary modifications. For the Nexus One from Google [GOOG] it should be a lot quicker. Update: Any moment now.

Details are a little scarce at the moment but we expect to start seeing a lot more information about it shortly.

Update: It appears that Google will be uploading the Android 2.2 build at 2pm EST today so that you can download and install on your Nexus One. That's just a few minutes away, so get checking. We'll let you know where you can grab it from shortly.

Update 2: Gizmodo's 2pm EST comment has been removed. Engadget however, say that the source code is available and it is expected to be pushed out to Nexus One's soon.

Gizmodo originally reported it (see link… 1st word in article), but they have since removed the 2pm EST time from their post. A new update has been provided in the post.
