Another Netbook is about to be launched. It is built by Emtec and is named the Gdium Liberty 1000. The unique feature of this Netbook is the SSD drive which is removable.
When purchasing the Gdium Liberty 1000 Netbook you get the choice of either an 8GB or 16GB removable SSD (solid state drive). Emtec call it the G-Key. The idea behind a remove SSD is fantastic as it allows you to keep your data safer. The G-Key is also bootable, so when it’s not present in the Netbook, it wont launch. The Gdium has a 10 inch LCD display that has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. However, only 512MB of RAM and a 900MHz processor is included which makes it quite low on the power side although Linux should require less resources then XP so maybe it will run ok.
