Garmin and ASUS formed a partnership where they are going to be creating mobile phones. With both these companies working together you get the skills of ASUS in the mobile area and Garmin in the GPS area to make a nice looking and very functional phone. The Nuvifone M20 is the first of the phones from this partnership to be created.
The Nuvifone M20 will be run Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro and have a 2.8 inch touchscreen. The phone is dual band on HSDPA and triband on GSM networks. Other connectivity includes Wi-Fi in both 801.11b and g speeds. With Garmin being involved with the creation of the Nuvifone M20 there is a lot of emphasis on GPS and location based services. As such, the phone comes pre loaded with a bunch of maps, POI’s, whitepages access, weather, flight information as well as local events and movie info from the local area.
The phone will have either 4GB or 8GB of storage which will store the regular photos and movies that we tend to carry around with us on a daily basis. With the phone having GPS, that service is also used by the camera to geo-tag pictures as you take them. The camera on the phone is a 3 megapixel camera which isn’t the greatest of resolutions we see on mobiles these days, but still ample to capture images in the right lighting conditions.
