Recently it has been spotted at the FCC which means it could be launching very soon.

The device supports an internal hard drive that is SATA compatible (3.5″ in size). A wi-fi module can be found on the device as well as USB ports, a HDMI port, SCART, S-Video, RCA Audio, Component video, Optical audio and co-ax. It is capable of decoding formats such as XviD, AVI, DivX or H.264. With all these options available in one unit you will be able to own a very versatile device capable of pretty much connecting anything to anything and successfully playing it. By using either the built in wi-fi connection or a wired ethernet port you are also able to hook up your PC to send media too and from the device.

Unfortunately no other details are available yet, but keep checking out soon for more details.

Sometimes a camera tripod is an essential device to have with you to capture the better photographs that require a steady hand. Unfortunately they are just too big to carry around for the regular holiday goers who carry a point and shoot camera. Luckily a neat new fold up tripod has been created that is small enough to fit in your pocket.

The fold-up tripod comes in a small ultra slim case that you just unwrap the legs, sit a camera on top, shoot, fold up and move along. The case for the tripod is also used as the camera case too making the whole thing completely compact.

Unlike other portable peripherals, you needn’t worry about losing this handy accessory or fumbling around for it in your pockets because it mounts to your camera via its screw-in tripod socket and stays put permanently, even while you take the shot.

The case is made of stretchy neoprene that utilises a Velcro closure to wrap it all up. The Wrap-Up tripod costs £19.95 from Firebox.

Panasonic has proposed that a new standard of storage to Blu-ray media is created. This new proposal, if accepted, will have all images stored on a blu-ray disk filed in a two-channel mode (left eye and right eye). This is proposed for all HD content. The new HDMI standard will make it easier to transfer the 3D images to compatible TVs.

This new standard will help prevent patent conflicts that may arise should two standards come in to play. If there is just one standard then this should allow exponential growth over the years to come rather then a conflict of compatibility issues that will arise should different 3D content be stored by different manufacturers.

Current 3D image encoding uses a two-channel function and that’s where Panasonic believes it should stay. The easier the new 3D-enabled TVs can identify image data, equipment and other elements through this standard, the easier it will be to sell the technology to consumers.

If approved we could start seeing Panasonics version of 3D in around 2 years used as a standard.

We recently received a Green Laser Pointer from Wicked Lasers to review. The laser we received was the Executive Series Fusion model which has a power rating of 125mW which makes the beam incredibly bright. Lets take a closer look - but not too close as this pen burns.

To give you an idea of how bright 125mW actually is you can compare it to a regular red laser pen you buy for about £10. Those types of laser are rated at about 5mW.

The Executive Series laser is constructed from premium imported laser diodes that are extremely powerful. With having this type of power, the laser is capable of firing a small dot at very long distances measuring well in to the miles. Also the power of the diodes allows for the beam to stay small and focussed.

Powered by two regular AAA batteries it is easy to find (or charge) some up in no time and be using it right away.

Wicked Lasers Executive Series Features

Name: Executive Series
Size: 13×144mm
Wavelength: 532nm
Laser Body: Black Polished Brass
Transverse Mode: TEM00
Output Power: 15mW - 125mW
Beam Divergence: 0.8mRad - 1.0mRad
Beam Diameter: 1.6mm
Power Consumption: 600mA
Power supply: 2 X AAA 1.5V
Battery Lifetime: 90 min
Switch: Momentary On / Off Button
Duty Cycle: 100 seconds on / 10 seconds off
Expected lifetime: >5,000 hours
Warranty: 3 months

As I have mentioned a few times already, this laser pen is VERY powerful. The 125mW version we tested is capable of popping dark balloons, burning through thin black plastic bags, burning skin to name a few. You may be wondering why you need a laser pen so bright and I actually wonder this my self. For presentations it is just far too powerful and would be next to impossible to look at the powerpoint presentation with this shining at the screen. According to Wicked Lasers one main use is just for fun. I have to admit it’s just addictive to create this green beam and see everybody turn to watch in amazement. Practical uses are star gazing (pointing out a star to a friend), military use such as pointing at targets, search and rescue operations and in some countries they have medical uses.

Overall I cannot fault this laser pen. From the executive style packaging to the weight and quality of the laser pen build, it just oozes quality and never ceases to impress people. If you are out looking for a new laser pen then go check them out over at wicked lasers.

Product Reviewed - Executive Series Laser Pen 125mW - $399.99 at time of review.

It allows you to use your own imagination in pretty much endless amounts of creativity. This latest idea named the Lego Bluetooth Printer does just want it says… it prints.

By using wheels the whole contraption rolls along a desk while the arm moves back and forth printing at the right locations to draw up an image. It’s hard to see how cool this is from the pictures alone, so scroll to the bottom of this post and hit play on the Youtube video to see it in action.

Now that we all have a number of little devices to carry around a company has made a Twin Mount Windscreen Holder for you to put TomTom and your mobile phone in to it.

In my opinion it’s a crazy device as adding another distraction of a phone to your view is just asking for trouble. I can see why a single mount is good because a satnav can help with road safety as your not faffing about not knowing where to go anymore… but to throw a mobile phone mount along side it… why??? I don’t get it or get the need for it. When your driving you should be doing just that. Anyway, it costs $25.99 and is available from USBFever.

If you are looking to hook up an external drive to your laptop that requires an extra boost of power, but all your USB ports are fully loaded then you could use this little hack to get some extra power from the VGA port on your laptop.

The port created is not a fully fledged USB port as it only provides power to what ever is plugged in to it. It works by “borrowing” electricity that is present on the VGA port by default. To make one of these yourself you will need a male to male VGA gender changer and a female USB plug that you can snip off the end of an old USB extension cable. By connecting the RED 5V wire to PIN 9 on the gender changer you will get some power through it. It needs to be grounded to PIN 10 (black cable) to complete the circuit. EverythingUSB recommend some epoxy to stick it all together and prevent wires jumping out.

But… I do recommend not trying this as it could break your VGA port on your laptop if done incorrectly. I also have not verified if the PIN requirements are correct, so please check on those first. I can’t really see that many people needing to make this modification though as it is rather weird to be honest.
