Ever Forgotten your USB Flash Drive
May 1, 2007

Have you ever worked on a computer at uni or in public where you have all your work on a flash drive and then forget to take it away with you when you finish? It sucks big time and while you are running back you often wonder who has the data, and are they reading all your work. Luckily for me, the key was still in the machine. This of course can be critical for the business worker who carries unencrypted data around as it opens up a whole can of worms as data leaks often cause big problems. The safest bet is to always encrypt your data.
Anyway, this isnt about encryption today. What I want to talk about is some cool VB script that I came across on EverythingUSB. You basically drop the VB script in a folder, make some changes through gpedit.msc and thats all. When you now log out of the computer you are on a message pops up reminding you to remove your Flash Drive. No doubt there will be some who hit log off and leg it and not even see the message, but this is a great little tool to give you that last final reminder to get your key.
