Donkey Kong Quilt

donkey-kong-quiltEtsy is always a cool source of geek type stuff. The latest that I came across is this Donkey Kong Quilt that represents one of the in-game levels from the classic game.

The Donkey Kong Quilt measures 64 inches square and is made from 100% cotton. I think it looks absolutely fantastic although I doubt I could part with $450 to buy one of them. If you feel you can then check out Etsy now.

Edit: Here are some details of the costs to make such a quilt so that you can appreciate how much work goes in to this.

How much?? This company has lost their mind. It’s geeky and 80′s cool, but $450 for a blanket with Donkey Kong on it is a little out of touch with our current financial straits.

G.Sleuth: I see where you’re coming from, and $450 is a lot of money if you just want to keep warm. But, you might find this post informative: http://carolinapatchworks.com/blog/2009/01/08/a-look-back-at-2008 Long and the short of it, $450 really is not that much from the standpoint of somebody hand-making complex quilts. It’s worthwhile to many buyers, but certainly not all (or even most).

As to the current financial straights, we’re working directly with Obama to have an incentive for video game quilt buyers written into the economic stimulus package; stay tuned.

That’s an interesting post by the maker. Thanks for sharing the links. I have linked direct to that article from within the post as I am amazed at the amount of effort and time that goes in to it. They are cool!
