DIY POV Watch

pov watch 300x112 DIY POV WatchThe Persistence of Vision (POV) Watch is a watch which creates the illusion of floating time while the wrist is swinging (such as when running).

It works by creating a sequence of LED patterns that when displayed in a fast moving environment shuch as your wrist moving back and forth it creates the illusion that a solid image is floating in thin air. To achieve this the watch uses a PIC16LF628A Microchip controller along with a mercury switch to detect the direction of motion. By displaying the image in one direction and then in the reverse direction it makes a solid floating image in the air. Kind of cool!

The instructions for making your own are included over at Grand Idea Solution so feel free to go check them out now!
