We recently received a Bluetrek X3 bluetooth headset for review to test how it performs. The Bluetrek X3 is described as being splash proof, shock proof and dust resistant. It is designed to be rugged allowing it to be used in various weather conditions and still function correctly. Included in the box is the ear piece it's self which comes with a clip that goes around the ear. Several other sized clips are also provided so you can pick the most comfortable one to use. A USB wall charger can be found along with an in car lighter charger as well as a short and slightly rigid USB cable for charging on your computer or connecting to the lighter charging unit.
There are just 3 buttons on the device to make it function. On the front of the headset is a button which you hold down to enable bluetooth to pair it with your phone. On the top side is a volume up and on the bottom side is a volume down button. Other than that, there are no other controls on the headset. [click to continue…]
The Sony NWZ-B142F is a Walkman in the B series range and measures 86mm x 23.6mm x 14.5mm making it quite small (about the size of a chunky flash drive). It has a small 3 line display screen that allows you to navigate around the features of the MP3 player as well as showing track details. The Sony B series Walkman has 2GB of memory to store your tracks on and also features an FM receiver to let you listen to the radio. It's similar to a flash drive in that it has a USB connector kept inside a cap that pulls off the end of the device and once inserted in a USB port on a PC the device charges and allows music to be transferred to and from the PC.
Features of the B Series Walkman include a 5 band graphic equalizer, Bass Boost, Voice recording, power light, AVLS, repeat, shuffle and can play MP3 and WMA files (non-DRM). [click to continue…]
The Samsung C6625v is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device that has a full QWERTY keyboard on the front of the device and is similar in looks to a Blackberry. The phone is available through Vodafone in the UK.
We managed to get our hands on a Samsung C6625v for review and to test how it performs. The C6625v has a 2.6 inch colour TFT screen that has a resolution of 320x240 pixels. It measures 113.2 x 63 x 12mm which works quite well in size. As can be expected with a front face QWERTY keyboard, it's a little wider than your average phone but it's still not excessively wide. A 2 megapixel camera can be found on the back and it's 1300mAh battery is good to power it for 420 minutes of talk time and 200 hours for standby time. [click to continue…]
The Sony E Series Walkman, named the NWZ-E443, is a 4GB flash based MP3 and video player. Several versions of the E series Walkman are available which include the 4GB model mentioned above, an 8GB model and a 16GB model. Size wise it measures 44 x 9.3 x 86.8 mm and it weighs just 54g. The Walkman has a 2 inch screen that can display 240 x 320 pixels and is used to display photos, track details and video.
Other features include an FM radio as well as a mic allowing voice recording. Battery power allows 30 hours of audio playback and while there are a few MP3 players that can squeeze more out of their battery, 30 hours is still a very acceptable amount. [click to continue…]
Atomic Floyd are a premium audio company that create some amazing looking earphones. The latest in their list to be released are called TwistJax and feature a unique twisting section on each earphone to allow them to sit more comfortably in any shaped ear.
The earphones are made of very thin metal which allows for a larger acoustic chamber that further enhances the sound quality. The wires are covered in a nylon surrounding making them pretty much tangle free which is a very welcomed feature. The 3.5mm earphone jack is covered in 24 carat gold to further enhance quality. Overall, an impressive to look at set of earphones that show a lot of potential. Lets see how they perform in the real world. [click to continue…]

We recently received a USB Battery Charger to take a look at. This version is different to the USB Cell that we wrote about a few years back in that it's a charging unit that you put batteries in rather then the batteries themselves housing a USB connector.
The USB charger only takes 1 type of battery that is a 1500mAh capacity 1.2V NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride). 2 of these batteries come supplied with the unit and when using the charger, both batteries must be inserted in the charging unit. [click to continue…]

WickedLasers asked if we could review another of their high powered laser pens. Of course I said yes as no matter how many laser pens I have seen in the past I still find they are very cool (although dangerous if not used correctly). The laser is named the Photonic Disruptor and unlike every other laser that requires safety specks to be worn to protect the eyes, the disruptor is supposed to be aimed at people's eyes to temporarily disorient them. In the words of WickedLasers it is described as...
an extremely effective, non-lethal, waterproof high powered green laser built specifically for rugged, harsh environments. This laser is classified as TALI¢ (Threat Assessment Laser Illuminator).... This tactical laser is equipped with versatile focus-adjustable collimating lenses to compensate for range and power intensity. Laze a non-lethal focused or unfocused beam towards potential threats at a distance. Used properly, the Photonic Disruptor¢ will temporarily overwhelm a threats visual senses without causing permanent eye damage.

SKYLasers recently contacted us and wanted us to test out one of their latest laser pointers. We have reviewed a couple of laser pointers before in the past and thought they were both cool... but it lead me on to think what would actually be different with this one other then the casing is white rather then black. Lets check out what it's all about and see how the SKYLasers pointer is different from the rest. [click to continue…]
