This concept idea shows a regular wall socket with an extension cable hidden behind. With the extension cable wound up in the wall the user can simply detach the socket front and pull the socket out further lengthening the amount of cord available.
The cord inside is designed to be 1.5 meters in length. To use the cord extension you simply pinch the sides of the socket and drag it out of the wall to the desired length. [click to continue…]

I can’t remember the last time we mentioned a specific concept car here on Gadgetvenue, but I came across this Concept Audi R10 today and thought it looks a bit swish. The R10 concept was designed by Marouane Bembli, a 23 year old Swedish student who has high hopes for the car being built by Audi. It’s based around an Audi R8 and looks a little more futuristic than the R8. It is powered by a “concept” V10 along with weighing about 2645lbs (in theory). [click to continue…]

If you ever use the standard calculator on Windows XP or on a Mac then these will look very familiar to you. The OS Calculators are a concept that were designed to look exactly like the calculator on your computer.
Each calculator is basic in that it has no scientific functions and can pretty much just do basic maths, but if you want something different on your desk then these would look good.
Unfortunately they are just concept and unless the designer can get permission from Apple or Microsoft then I doubt we will see them being created and sold anywhere. Check out a couple more renderings after the jump. [click to continue…]

The BI Handheld Shopper Gadget is a concept device that aims to help you find various shops. Looks wise, the renderings look great. It has an interchangeable back cover along with a gloss black face and steel detailing making it look rather good – in theory.
Inside you’ll find a GPS receiver that tracks your current location and the interface is designed with shopping in mind as it lists all the local shops that are nearby and overlays them on a satellite image. [click to continue…]

Intel have introduced a unique working concept notebook that has four screens built in. Don’t think that it’s 4×15″ displays all put side by side though. In this case you have 1 large screen as a normal laptop/notebook has and then below just above the keyboard you have 3 more smaller screens embedded in to the device. Each of those 3 screens near the keyboard respond to touch and can display information in widgets. Also content from the 3 screens can be dragged up to the main screen if needed.
The concept is codenamed Tangent Bay and uses 3 OLED screens as well as the primary LCD based screen.
It is also being called the worlds first multi-touch, multi-screen concept solution and although it sounds crazy I can actually see it being a very handy way of working with email, IM conversations, social networking streams and perhaps showing a task list, movie or some other handy content that you need to glance at from time to time but don’t want to waste space on your main screen with. The Sonea is a concept gadget that converts noise to energy to be used to power things such as lights, mobile phone chargers and even TV’s.
The device needs to be installed in a very noisy environment to be useful, so keeping it at home might not be the best option and instead, stick it in a local construction yard.
According to it’s designers it is capable of producing 30 watts of power for each decibel of sound produced. If installed on a runway the noise from a plan can produce 240KW of power. [click to continue…]

Although still a number of years away, a concept designer has decided to create a 3D model of a PlayStation 4. It was created by designer Tai Chiel and has a number of interesting features such as an embedded OLED screen in the transparent section to allow you to view menus, saved games and what looks to be like a game playing on one of the screen shots.
It is unclear when a PS4 will be made available as there are many years left in the PS3 and other consoles like the XBox 360, but that still doesn’t stop the design from being great. [click to continue…]

Earlier this week we thought that the Wallet MID was the mystery Android device. However, it turns out that this is not the case and in fact, the mystery Android device is actually a concept device built by Rockchip.
Rockchip were using the device to demonstrate a Chinese chip makers new 720p decoding chipset. The device you saw was using the RK2808 chipset to see how it functions while using the Android OS. [click to continue…]

This odd looking concept device is a mixture of a tablet PC with a swivel type keyboard. The concept is that you can choose to use the tablet as a tablet, ie… write on the screen by swivelling the screen around. Also it lets you use it as a laptop but also switching the keyboard for a large touchpad.
It was created by Victor Bivol and was designed for designers so they can use a large tablet for using software such as Photoshop. This means that no Wacom tablet is needed as it has one built in. [click to continue…]

Maptor is a concept device that uses an inbuilt projector to throw a map of the current location on to a surface. It’s small enough to be worn around the neck. It has built in GPS that can track exactly where you are and then download the appropriate map and your favourite points of interest that are also projected.
The downside of this concept device is the projector. As of now there really isn’t a projector of such a small size that could successfully be used in daylight. However, a company recently were seen to be creating portable laser projectors which could potentially have application in this design. [click to continue…]

Art Levedev Studio’s have created another concept gadget. This time they created the Navigarius which is a satnav unit that sports a round screen. It has touchscreen controls, a USB port, microSD slot and is powered by either battery or a lighter socket on your car.
It looks like it belongs in a future concept car and other than looking rather cool it looks like a pretty standard setup with the usual maps and features of ordinary satnav units. [click to continue…]

The Haptic Reader concept is an overlay designed to help blind people read non Braille books. The device has a glass surface that is designed to rest on the pages of a regular book. Text from the page is then scanned in to the Haptic Reader and the surface has dots that protrude to make up the Braille characters.
If the user of the device doesn’t yet understand Braille then the reader makes use of a loud speaker to read out the contents of the book. [click to continue…]

The Mint Battery is a concept gadget that explores the use of kinetic energy to keep an AA battery charged. Rather than using energy from a wall socket or solar panel the Mint Battery looks in to the idea of being able to shake the battery to create charge.
To fit everything needed to make it work the Shakenergy Mint Battery is about half the capacity of a regular rechargeable battery (maybe 750mAh – 1000mAh). What the concept shows is the charging unit being placed at the bottom of the cylinder and the half sized battery sitting just above that. [click to continue…]

For a fun product management class over at Georgia State University, students decided to create a concept video showing what a MacBook Touch would look like. The presentation starts off with an old Mac from 1984 then quickly moves to the iPod in 2001 and then the iPhone a few years after that at which point the MacBook Touch is displayed.
The Tablet features (as a concept) has a multi-touch interface, large screen, cover flow and a transparent on-screen keyboard. [click to continue…]
