Casio have launched their latest addition to the EXILIM range. It is named the EX-Z29 and is a 10.1 megapixel point and shoot camera with a 3x optical zoom.
The camera measures 3.64″ x 2.16″ x .91″ making it fairly compact. On the back of the camera a wide 2.7 inch LCD display can be found that is capable of a 479 x 240 resolution. With the camera being from the EXILIM range it retains the features of other cameras in that range. It comes with all the standard features such as face detection and best shot modes. Other features include anti-shake which prevents blur on slower shots, an Easy Mode which cuts out all the advanced features and simplifies photo taking to image size, flash and the self timer.
Movies on the camera can be captured in a widescreen mode with an aspect ratio of 16:9. As well as widescreen mode there is a handy Youtube mode which allows you to capture in a format just right for uploading. Software is included to do youtube uploads.
Although the camera only has a 3x optical zoom, it’s still a lot of camera for the price. If you are wanting something a little more advanced with a 20x optical zoom like the Sony DSC-HX1 then you are looking at paying just over 3x the price. For regular shooting at the beach, party’s and other day to day things the EX-Z29 is a good choice.
The EX-Z29 will be made available in April at a cost of $149.99. Colours to choose from are black, pink, blue, silver and purple.
