Canon are launching the PowerShot SX1 IS to those in the US. This camera has been available in various places around the world for a while already though. Lets take a quick look at what it can do.
The Canon PowerShot SX1 IS is a digital camera that has a 10 Megapixel CMOS image sensor. It is capable of capturing movies at 1080p (Full HD) which makes it impressive. The zoom lens attached can zoom up to 20x optical which is fantastic (560mm) and on the wide angle side it goes all the way back to just 28mm allowing you to get more in the frame.
Optical image stabilisation is included in the camera. The view screen measures 2.8 inch and is a vari-angle screen as seen pictured here. What the vari-angle allows you to do is capture photos from awkward spots like low down or high up pictures where you sometimes just cannot see the screen from. The camera captures in both RAW and JPEG allowing those users of Photoshop a way of getting white balance easily edited after shot. With it being a HD 1090p camera the PowerShot SX1 IS has a built in HDMI connector allowing you to watch HD captures direct from camera on to your HDTV.
The PowerShot SX1 IS is not a DSLR and is a step between a P&S and DSLR making it ideal for those who want something more advanced then a point and shoot but not too fussed about the extra lenses that a DSLR has.
