ASUS Smartbook to Launch Q1 2010

asus-snapdragonASUS are to launch a new ASUS Smartbook in just a few months time according to boss Jerry Shen. The Smartbook is expected to be priced at a reasonable $184 USD. With the new device being launched ASUS expect to reach the same peak that the Eee had when launched.

The new ASUS Smartbook will run a 1GHz snapdragon processor along with the Google Android operating system. It would provide some decent functions but not quite at a level of Windows. A decent browser will be included along with other application that could be downloaded.

Although a few months ago ASUS were heard to say that there is no future for Smartbooks, it seems that there has been a major u-turn on this as the boss boldly expects sales to go very well.

It will be an interesting year if Smartbooks do follow the success of netbooks although I'm not too optimistic myself, that perhaps might change if Chrome OS is installed on one of the devices.
