Asus EeeBox EB1501 Nettop with 1080p Output

Asus have revealed details of the EeeBox EB1501 nettop today. The new computer is the first in the EeeBox range that has an optical drive along with Windows 7 installed.

This new version is also based around the NVIDIA ION chipset and lets it work perfectly in your living room as an entertainment centre capable of pushing out 1080p.

Asus have made the EeeBox EB1501 very power efficient too allowing to it use 70% less power than a traditional desk top PC.

The specifications over on the Asus site show that the device will run an Intel Atom N330 Dual Core processor with the basic model having 2GB of DDR2 RAM that can be upgraded to 4GB if you choose so. Storage is provided by a 2.5" SATA drive with a 250GB capacity and the optical drive is capable of working with DVD-RW media.

The wired Ethernet connection works at speeds up to 1GBps and the wireless networking built in supports 802.11b/g/n. A couple of USB 2.0 slots are to be found on the front, with an extra 4 on the back. The unit also has a card reader, headphone and mic inputs/outputs. A single HDMI output can be found on the back along with more audio outputs. Asus also mention the option of a remote control which can be purchased separately and if used as a media PC in your living room would probably be a good accessory to buy.
