Asus have launched a new netbook named the Asus Eee 1201N. It uses the NVIDIA Ion graphics chipset making a good improvement for graphics capabilities on the small netbook. The Eee 1201N also has 2GB of RAM built in and runs the usual Atom N270 1.6GHz processor that we commonly see in netbooks.
For storage the Asus netbook uses a 250GB SATA drive that spins at 5,400 RPM. As of now it is listed at a Chinese retailer site for the equivalent of $513.
The 12 inch screen is HD running at a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and is of course, a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. The screen is also backlit by LED. Connectivity wise it has WiFi b/g/n allowing for some quick speeds if connected to a wireless n router. Bluetooth can also be found along with 10/100 Ethernet.
USB ports are also included along with a VGA output and a memory card reader. Finally, there is a 1.3 megapixel webcam that is also included. It appears to be an excellent netbook with plenty of power, storage and fast connectivity. The Asus 1201N uses a 6 cell battery and like the best selling netbook - Asus 1005HA, it also has a nice 11 hours of battery life. When launched it will run the latest Windows OS (Windows 7). With that in mind, we won't be seeing it till the end of October when Windows 7 is officially launched.
