Apple iSlate Confirmed by Orange France – Sort of….

by Matthew Newill on January 11, 2010

In an interview held Monday Stephane Richard, the deputy chief executive of Orange, kind of confirmed that an Apple [AAPL] iSlate, or tablet, is on it's way sometime soon. The conversation has been translated in to English and says the following...

Jean Pierre Elkabbach (interviewer): "According to the weekly Le Point, in a few days your partner Apple will launch a Tablet with a webcam"

St©phane Richard: "Yes"

Jean Pierre Elkabbach: "Will the users of Orange benefit of it to"

St©phane Richard, "Sure! They will, with the webcam it will indeed be transmitted image in real time. We'll update this in a way videophone we saw a few years ago, and again, the network size and network quality that we put in place to serve the French will allow the new uses to develop everywhere. "

Of course this is no official announcement and the validity of his comments could be questioned too, but it's something else that ads to the current flurry of rumours that have been going around about Apple's announcement coming at the end of this month.

The video of the interview can be watched below...
