Apple iPhone 3.1.3 Jailbreak Released

Finally, there is a jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3. The jailbreak is called Spirit. We have mentioned the Spirit jailbreak before after seeing a few videos of an unlocked iPad and iPad 3G.

The Jailbreak works on the 3.1.2, 3.1.3 and 3.2 iPhone OS covering all 3G and 3GS models as well as the Apple iPad. Also the jailbreak is untethered which means if you run a later iPhone 3GS or an iPad then you don't need to run the Spirit jailbreak each time you restart your device.

One thing to note though that this is "NOT" an unlock for the iPhone. If you are using another SIM card then it would be best not to jailbreak with the Spirit app until the team make a working unlock for it.

Also, the iPad version jailbreak is still in beta and occasionally crashes the iPad if some apps are installed through Cydia that are not designed for the iPad. A restore will need to be done if this happens to your iPad.

Other than those rules above you should be good to go. The Spirit download can be found over here and if you have problems running the Windows version then switch the application to Win 95 or Win 98 compatibility mode.

    Thank you for the hard work. I got so excited I thought that I finally can use my iphone but noted further down on your news letter that you mentioned that this is not an unlock for iPhone, and if using another SIM card its best not to jailbreak. I accidently upgraded my iPhone to 3.1.3 (7E18) Firmware 05.12.01 and now my phone says no service. Could you kindly advise me when your team works out how to unlock my iphone

      I don’t have a team and we are not working on an unlock. If we did, it wouldn’t work anyway.

    Spirit is awesome… I lost my apps by accidentally upgrading to 3.1.3 and now I’m able to use my Cydia apps again… took all of 30 seconds to install!! Thanks for the great work

    Hi,

    I upgraded my phone to 3.1.3 by mistake last month and now its stuck on a screen which basically says its waiting for activation.

    Will this jailbreak help me? I have a 16GB 3GS iphone.

    I am using Windows 7 and iPhone 3GS on 3.1.3. The jailbreak doesn’t work for me. I got the error code “c0000138″ and the error message is “The ordinal 3719 could not be located in the dynamic link library LIBEAY32.dll.”

    Please advise how to make it work.

      Run the app in compatibility mode such as Win XP, 2000 or even 98.

    Thanks so much – this is awesome.
    I was tired of paying for apps that ended up being nothing like what they promised or claimed.
    I may as well have thrown the money down a street drain instead.
    Now I can download from ‘somewhere’ and try before I buy – the full product.
    And if it is worthwhile – I can buy and know I have money well spent.
