Apple iPad UK to Launch April 24 – Rumour

by Matthew Newill on April 6, 2010

We already mentioned last week that we had heard the international launch of the Apple iPad was looking to be April 24. This information originally came from an Apple [AAPL] store worker in Canada.

Reasons we believe this date to be accurate are as follows...
1.)Both the UK and Canada are in the list of countries to get the Apple iPad late April.
2.)The US iPad was launched on a Saturday and we also believe the international launch will follow suit. April 24 is late April, and the last Saturday in April.
3.)Reports that the Apple Stores in Canada and the UK are saying that those days have been designated as "black-out" days indicating that staff will not be allowed time off.

The UK rumour also came from an Apple store where it is also believed extra staff will be working to cover a busy day in sales. Also out of the two stores checked in the UK, one of them specified that April 24 was the official launch date.

From what we understand, and from what Apple indicate, both the Wi-Fi iPad and Wi-Fi+3G iPad will be launching at the same time.

Although information has yet to be made official by Apple in the UK, we suspect that pre-orders will be opened up soon along with the official price to be revealed. The last rumour we heard on that indicated it would be around the £390 mark for the Wi-Fi 16GB version.

We'll keep you updated on if we hear more. [Distorted-Loop]
