We hear today that the Amazon Kindle wont be arriving in colour any time soon. The news comes from the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos who said a colour version of the Kindle was a "long way out".
Many rumours about Amazon launching a Colour Kindle have been floating around the web since the launch of the Apple iPad. However, Amazon appear to be sticking to their regular e-ink displays that come in black and white yet have a very impressive battery life due to how they function.
Bezos did say that some colour designs were being worked on but that they are no where near production yet. Perhaps the company are wanting colour e-ink to preserve the battery life of days rather than going for LCD type displays that kill the battery in a day.
What do you guys think? Do you want a colour Kindle? or do you prefer a Kindle for just reading plain books like it was designed to do? Of course there are other alternatives out there that do utilise colour such as the Nook (although that's a smaller navigation screen in colour with a larger e-ink grayscale screen for reading on).
It will be interesting to see what the next Kindle will look like and what new features it will bring.
