Acer has launched the ICONIA TAB A501 4G model on to the AT&T network. The tablet has a 10.1 inch screen, runs the Google Android Honeycomb operating system and is capable of running at 4G speeds.
The 10.1 inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is a TFT WXGA screen. The aspect ratio is 16:10 and the screen has a viewing angle of 80 degrees.
The A501 weighs 1.689 points and has dimensions of 10.24×6.97×0.52 inches. Other features include a microSDHC slot to expand the storage capacity of the device. It also has an HDMI output, microUSB and full sized USB, a 5 megapixel camera on the back with a 2 megapixel camera on the front. GPS is built in as well as an accelerometer. 10 hours is expected on the battery.
There are two versions available which differ in capacity only. The lower end has 16GB of storage while the upper end has 32GB with each costing $499 and $549 respectively. As this particular tablet is designed to go online via 4G AT&T will also offer either a 250MB plan at $15/month or $25/month for 2GB of data.
